Assemblyman Jim Nielsen, who serves as the State Assembly Vice Budget Chair announced,” Paul Chabot is the kind of leader Sacramento needs. Paul’s background in law enforcement, both as an officer and Parole Board Commissioner, gives him the experience to keep our streets safe. I clearly understand the battles that lie ahead for me in Sacramento and knowing that our party has esteemed leaders, like Assemblyman Nielsen already on the front lines, ensures we have a fighting chance to right this ship before it’s too late. I look forward to serving the people of California, alongside my conservative allies so that our children have a California worth growing up in.”

Chabot Endorsed by Crime Victims United of California

Inland Empire, CA – April 7, 2010. 63rd Assembly Candidate, LT Commander (s) Paul Chabot announces the endorsement of Crime Victims United of California (CVUC). Chabot, the only law enforcement candidate in the race continues to receive overwhelming support from police, sheriff and crime victim associations.
The President and Chair of Crime Victims United of California, Harriet Salarno stated, “Crime Victims United of California has only one objective – to work on behalf of all victims of crime. To that end, we take particular care in selecting the candidates we support. In the 63rd Assembly District, the choice was crystal clear – Paul Chabot is by far the best candidate to stand with crime victims and law enforcement. Paul’s proven record as a member of the Parole Commission along with his 15-years of front-line law enforcement make him far and away the most qualified candidate. We are proud to stand with him.”
CVUC was created to help ensure law-abiding Californians have the rights, protections and respect they deserve – by reminding government leaders and the general public of the toll crime takes on our society, and on the victims it creates.
Recent statistics show that in an average year, more than 189,000 Californians are victims of violent crimes, including:
* 2,500 homicides
* 9,300 forcible rapes
* 63,400 robberies
* 114,300 aggravated assaults
“Having served as a law enforcement officer and later as a governor appointed commissioner for the state parole board, I have seen firsthand the impact felt by victims of crime. We must do more to keep violent criminals off our streets and behind bars. California legislators should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to balance our state budget by releasing 40,000 so-called “non violent” offenders back into our neighborhoods. I will fight everyday for a safer California. I will work for increased protection for crime victims and witnesses of crimes. I will work to counter rampant gang and drug cartels intimidating our communities run by illegal aliens. Without strong leadership in Sacramento, more of your friends, family and neighbors will become a statistic of a violent crime in California. I have devoted my life to fighting crime and look forward to serving as your next Assemblymember,” said Chabot.
Chabot has extensive background in pubic safety, crime, drugs, gangs and border issues. He has15-years of street level law enforcement experience; served six-years for the White House Drug Czars Office; served in the U.S. State Department’s Office of Inspector General, and also served with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles assessing measures to reduce methamphetamine production and use. Chabot served three Gubernatorial appointments to the parole board; founded the Inland Valley Drug Free Community Coalition and the Coalition for a Drug Free California. He has authored a number of strategies and is currently writing a book on drug cartel violence.
Chabot is endorsed by Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley; California Police Chiefs Association; California Peace Officers Association; California Narcotic Officers Association; Riverside Police Officers Association; Riverside Sheriffs Association; San Bernardino School Police Association; Los Angeles Professional Peace Officers Association, and rank and file officers around the state.

Chabot said, “It’s an honor to have the support of these fine Americans who have dedicated their lives protecting the public from the harms of illegal drugs. California is at the forefront of many issues affecting our communities, including drug cartel violence and drug legalization efforts. I’m fortunate to have served alongside these leaders who remain close allies in our efforts to reduce drug-related harm to youth and our neighborhoods. I will do all I can to better protect Californians from the surge of violence heading our way from our southern border, fight relentlessly against any effort to legalize drugs in our state, and support safe and drug free schools for our youth. Public safety will remain my number one priority in the legislature.”
